Witness Statement #6 About Care Of Oliver (and Stalking/Harassment)

To Whom It May Concern,
She lived in our neighborhood and visited frequently with her son. Her interactions seemed very normal. Her child’s appearance was always clean and neat. And she seemed very protective, that’s what I remember—that she didn’t let that kid out of her sight. And with everybody who even came near him she was cautious.
Oliver seemed to be meeting all the normal milestones for a child of his age. We remember him walking.
She took him out for walks, she didn’t just keep him confined to her apartment, she took him out for walks daily. Even when she wasn’t visiting us she was out visiting other neighbors. The neighbor girls were always interacting with him and he never seemed fearful when other children were around.
She seemed like a very caring parent…Friendly and outgoing, personable. All I can think of is that I never saw or even suspected there was ever any use of drugs or alcohol.
What I remember is that some guy was harassing the heck out of her, slashing her tires and doing car vandalism on several occasions. I remember the windows being bashed several times and tires slashed and no one else in the neighborhood was being vandalized. I’m not aware of any other vandalism on this street. I thought it was an ex-boyfriend or somebody. Somebody that was stalking her.
I remember she was pretty distraught about it because she couldn’t afford to buy new tires. But anybody would be distraught to have their property vandalized all the time. I think being upset about those sorts of things happening it would be normal to be distraught or upset.
He seemed like a normal happy child. I don’t remember him being ill, fussy, and seemed like, if anything, it was…You could tell he would get upset if she was far…actually, she was always in the same room and in his sight, it didn’t matter what. She was very protective. It seems to me she carried him a lot even when he was walking. I remember him toddling up and down the sidewalk with her.
Knowing how close she was to her son, it must have really torn them up to have this happen. I’m shocked she lost custody because knowing her, it’s like, “How could that have happened?”
Remembering how she was, I think I could have held a gun to her head and she wouldn’t have let him go. She may have let him go just to kill me. When I think about all of the neglected children, I think how could this happen?
She doesn’t seem a bit different than she did then. She seems like a normal person just like she seemed then. Stephanie, our granddaughter, adored Cameo and Oliver and she’s developmentally delayed and would go over to visit them at her apartment. Stephanie was about 16 years old then.

I swear that this statement is made to the best of our ability and belief and that this is made for purposes of evidence in court.
