Hello Justin, here is another letter which I'd like to have copied onto other paper or letterhead regarding a claim of damaged materials:

Dear Mr. Marney,

I am writing to request this note is placed in my file with the library. I was told there is a comment or notation made in the computer regarding materials which were returned damaged. I wish to give an explanation for this claim.

I was told an aunt or grandmother returned some books for me which were "damaged" and that someone was told there was urine or vomit on them.

I have never allowed any of my books to be damaged and have been a regular library user since the age of eight. I have great respect for books and there has never been an incident in which I allowed any book to be covered in either urine or vomit. Furthermore, I question why anyone would say this and how they think they knew the books were damaged by these means.

I certaintly was not making the claim and I can assure you, I've never had a witness to such desecration, and with only God as my witness, this has never happened. I cannot claim responsiblity for books that were returned to without my permission or outside of my observation. I have no idea what state the books may have been in but any significant damage wouldn't have been my doing. If I ever damaged a book in the past it was by folding down an ear to mark my place or perhaps one was scuffed in a bookbag.

I was horrified to discover this notation was made in your computer system, under my name and I ask that it be removed as I cannot verify the truth of the claim nor am I able to take responsibilty for the appearance or manner in which they were returned.

Thank you so much,

Cameo Garrett
