A tip for the curler wearers of This Great Depression.
Once some of the pins have been lost and new ones cannot be afforded, make do! with rubberbands.
Wrap rubberband around roller. Keep scissors nearby in case rubberband becomes entangled with hair. Expect to sacrifice some strands for the sake of curly.
If you are out of rubberbands and have those fuzzy pipes that kids use to make creations (the ones with wire in the middle that bend and with fuzzy colors on the outside), these work. Wrap pipers around curler.
Will update with new thoughts if fuzzy pipes run out.
