Broken Window Theory--Police Management of Crime

I just heard on the news today that Rudy Guilani had a theory he called the "broken window theory" which was that if police do not respond to smaller crimes, like the broken window of a car, it leads criminals to press the envelope to see what else they can go and how far they can push the envelope.

Sounds familiar to me.

So, Rudy demanded that every single crime was attended to, no matter how small, and crime plummeted.

This could probably be something the Wenatchee police and other law enforcement takes into consideration.

I reported repeated vandalism of my car and property and when police did nothing, it just led to worse crimes.
