Justin, here is a letter you could cut and paste onto your letterhead.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Justin Titus and I am providing legal representation for Ms. Cameo Garrett at this time. I am writing this letter on behalf of Ms. Garrett as I understand a written explanation for the loss of some library books is being required.

Ms. Garrett had several library books in her vehicle when she travelled to Canada with her son in 2008. It was in January of this year that she was asked to leave Canada without her vehicle, which was left behind at a Wal-Mart parking lot in Pencticton, Canada.

The tow company which tows for this Wal-Mart subsequently changed hands in ownership and had records of any vehicles towed there, before May of 2008, erased. However, the Wal-Mart and the Penticton RCMP confirm this is the towing company which would have possessed Ms. Garrett's car.

Ms. Garrett was unable to collect her vehicle after her car was towed and all of the books were lost to the towing company.

Ms. Garrett has spent many hours trying to find out what happened to her vehicle and has made several long distance phone calls to authorities in both the U.S. and Canada and this is what she was told. I can confirm she was made to leave her car in Canada for one year and that she was unable to get the books back.

It is my understanding that she would have returned them if possible, and that it was not her intention to keep the books.

My client is currently writing a book which requires research and she has also been unable to check out books for her son who is 3 years old. She explained to me that in case your branch was audited, you would need a letter in the file explaining what happened and that then she would be re-issued a new library card.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at my offices.

Thank You,

Justin Titus
