I got one of the strangest responses from a surrogate agency. They said they do not take women from other states because it's a "moral and ethical issue".
Eyes wide. This is from an agency that doesn't use lawyers either and I'm wondering if the problem here is lack of common sense.
There is no "moral and ethical issue" in accepting women from other states, anymore than there is in accepting parents from other states. It's legal, if it's done in a state where it's legal.
People are not defined by their residency in a particular state. I mean, give me a break.
At this ludicrous comment I said, "Well that sounds like state discrimination to me, and I don't think I'd be interested in going with your agency because that is not a reasonable conclusion to make." (and I therefore question the entire operation if logic is not at least one of the cornerstones).
If it's legal, it's not "immoral" or "unethical" simply because one person is a Washingtonian and not a spud.
