I just got the coolest effect and I have to writ about how it looks before I try to drink it.
Okay, I made myself some eggs with fresh rosemary, a little hot pepper, garlic, and olive oil and butter. Then, I took an egg, and stirred it with a fork into a ceramic cup. Just stirred, but to blend, not to froth.
I poured half a glass of riesling. It's a really good one, I think...er, or I just like rieslings and it's a change of pace from Chardonnay. Okay, let me find the brand name...
It's Eroica 2005, Riesling, Chateau Ste Michelle and then it says Dr. Loosen at the bottom. I guess it's a collaboration between the two winemakers. So anyway, I then
poured, from the cup, about a teaspoon or tablespoon of the mixture into the glass and it sank to the bottom, where it THEN, began to bloom like a flower.
First it looked like Gilluli, the glass maker's paperweight work, and it was sort of this blooming yellow flower. Then, it grew spikes and it sat at the bottom as this wild and proud crown or undersea coral growth. Then, as I have let it sit for a few minutes, it has continued to grow up so that all the spikes have formed a kind of mountain where all peaks are at the top and there's this small froth at the very tip, like an ethereal volcano.
It works, visually, in the first 5 minutes I think, because now it's sort of like an odd crystal growth.
If I walk with it, it twists and turns but still holds its shape.
I tried to get both white and yolk at the same time. An equal part mixture.
So I suppose I'll stir it now and try drinking it.
Okay, stirred, it looks gross. Stringly stuff at the top and little parts throughout. Probably would be much better just drinking while it's in formation.
Taste!
It's not bad actually. Not at all. It takes some of the bite out of the riesling, from being bright to a little warmer, but maybe kind of dull too. I think you could play with it and just make a totally different drink. The hardest part would be making it LOOK palatable.
I put half the egg mixture in and it doesn't change it much. So I just put the whole egg in and there's a half glass and I can see where sugar would come in handy. It needs something. Maybe vanilla too.
It looks a lot better when the whole egg is in. It froths a little at the top and you can't see the separate stringy parts.
I added sugar, about a tablespoon and just poured. It's alright. You could totally drink it for breakfast and for added nutrients. I do think it sort of ruins the original character of the riesling. But it's not bad at all. You could certaintly play with it a bit. A little orange juice and it would be a nice version of a riesling julius. It's definitely more mellow with the egg in it.
I would be interested in mixing and making drinks with essences of fir, pine, and other trees, and leafy things including herbs and grasses.
I don't know why. But I think we could incorporate some grass and green into the floral and fruity stuff. whaddya think! I think the green stuff would be really cool with vodka.
I actually like this egg, riesling, sugar mix now. It's very mellow and has changed a little bit. Some of the floral qualities come out a little more. The higher pitch notes mellow out and this almost mellow fruit floral character comes out. The zing and zang lends towards honey and this one does make me think of peach a little bit. like an overripe hint of peach with honey.
Okay, and after so many minutes, the top layer gets gross. You do NOT want to drink the top layer because it's congealing.
If you stir it again, and with sugar, it goes to the bottom so it's a good idea to stir again...it breaks up the congealed layer and is drinkable.
I think this is a very healthy alternative to a morning "kill-the-hangover" drinks. Hooray for the egg flip.
Until someone figures out how to make it "look" decent though, it might be a private drink to enjoy at the house.
Oh! I should say, about the jewelry, no! I do not think it belongs to others as in being stolen. Not at all. That's not how I meant that. There were a lot of interesting things at the house and he makes some money, so nothing is out of the ordinary.
I told him, as we were watching "Match Point": "I LIKE the English accent!" Sometime in my life, I want an English boyfriend. Just to listen to him. You know, Australian or New Zealand might do. Just might!
At the cafe today, where I went with this new friend, there was a man next to me with an English accent.
