I had no images or dreams to recall, but I did have a thought on my mind this morning. It was regarding Obama, our President!
I was thinking about how stressed out he seemed to be and then thought about the health care reform he championed. I had the feeling there was something weightier that is in his agenda which worries him or causes concern, but it also crossed my mind that the fight for healthcare reform took a toll.
I started thinking myself, "Why did I tune out?" On healthcare reform, really. And then I thought, "What was the issue really, and where is the process now?"
I started to think, maybe it is too late for me to be involved and I don't know how I would be involved, but while I was content to sit back and let politicians wage the battle, I thought about two new political faces I saw on the news last night.
Just from looking at their photos I didn't get a good vibe. It was sort of: this is why people think politicians are corrupt...some of them even 'look' corrupt or simply power hungry.
But what I started thinking about, was a combination of my medical bills and then the "bankrupty reform" bill which passed.
I put 2 and 2 together and realized who is really getting protection in this country and then I realized, for the first time, how this bill for healthcare reform could help me and other Americans who cannot afford health insurance.
So I have some new thoughts on this, but first I want to check in and see where the reform process is. I think it's gone, but are there embers burning? I want to look at it a little more closely. I had concerns about such a plan, but now I think, who is benefiting and how do the risks outweigh the benefits?
My thinking was that, here I have all these medical bills from things which were not my fault. I have bills for medical needs beyond my control--surgeries for accidents, migraines, the like.
Yet when "bankruptcy reform" rolled around, it reformed laws which would then benefit corporations and upper class, not the middle class, lower class or uninsured. Bankruptcy reform has made it impossible for anyone who is poor or couldn't afford health insurance, to declare bankruptcy and get rid of those bills. I can understand reform in the sense of not allowing people to spend beyond their means on clothes, shoes, eating out, and material goods, but health is another thing. It's something we all deal with, and it's not something that one can control, usually.
Bankruptcy reform basically benefited hospitals and doctors but not middle class to lower class patients whose medical bills they couldn't pay. You cannot get rid of these bills. A few types you can, but not all of them, as it used to be.
In the meantime, all these breaks were made for the credit card companies and big business, but the middle class and lower class were left in the lurch.
So I was thinking, when you don't have a healthcare plan which will cover everyone, how does anyone expect the middle class or poor to pay off medical bills they cannot possibly pay off?
I want to look into this more.
