Hmm. I can't find the article I read last night, which really did a nice job of explaining how horomones in pregnancy can cause back pain almost from conception. It was interesting because the doctor explained which horomones, and how they directly affect the spine, even narrowing and altering the shape or function of the spine temporarily. Basically, the pregnancy horomones are very poweful, and affect the bones and muscles almost immediately. If there are existing problems, this could contribute to greater instability. I wish I could find it! It was very short and yet descriptive and understandable.
At any rate, I don't blame the ER doctor for not doing more, or not doing an MRI. She did consult with an OBGYN who didn't see me, but was upstairs, and I have to have follow up.
I can sort of understand why she was so doubtful about my injuries too, because, just as she thought, if there were broken bones and damages, why didn't anyone do anything THEN? and why was it so hard for me to get those diagnostics?
She didn't suggest I terminate either. She didn't say anything about that, although I've had a lot of pressure from some of the doctors and nurses, to not go to the specialist who has chosen to take me on himself. Then, I found out, as I was walking through the hall, this guy is not just a specialist, he's one of the main directors for the whole place.
I've heard good things about him, so I'm going to give it a go.
Also, what the former nurse and I were discussing, was how things have changed. She was commenting on how rude some of the nurses were and they didn't seem suited to their jobs, and I agreed, and she said in the 70s it wasn't like that. She said nurses were empathetic and even gave back rubs to ease a patient's discomfort. She said it's all different now.
