T.V. Shows About Kids With Challenges

I have watched a couple of programs about kids with challenges. One was about people, in general, who are 'different'. Dramatically different. Then, I came upon a program about a little girl who has a special kind of dwarfism.

I think I feel most sorry for the children whose parents and specialists talk about their kids and their problems right in front of them. One couple had a child that didn't age, and looked like a baby when it was 17 years old. But that poor child is a guinea pig. The entire time, she never looked happy.

Then, there's this other one and the mother started talking to reporters about how she might die early and they don't know how much time they have and the little girl began to wimper and cry. Then she goes to a psychical therapist and they just sit there and talk about scary things in front of her.

Even if a child cannot talk, I really do not like the presumption that because a child is unable to express themselves, this means their comprehension is delayed. I always think about people who have strokes, and they can't respond like they might want to, but they still understand.

So this girl was diagnosed with mental delay but I feel no one really knows. I mean, there is no way of knowing exactly how much she understands. It's just too bad.

I can tell these families really love their kids. I don't think they're doing anything wrong or that they don't love enough, but I just see the kids getting agitated and starting to wimper or cry themselves when they are hearing their parents talk about death and are crying. I think it would be better if the parents could keep their emotions to themselves more so it doesn't affect the children. I mean, have the child held or watched by someone else for a little while and they can cry privately, but not speak about all these horrible things.
