Lone Bird Sings With Me After Midnight

I have to write about this. I can't sleep. I was singing very softly, next to my window, to Emmylou and Linda's "1917" song about the woman who "cannot deny" the soldier (tonight, the war is over) and this bird that must have been asleep, outside in a tree or bush somewhere, began to sing along with me. Chirping away happily at this hour.

It made me smile. The dogs used to hide under the beds when I began to sing, but the birds were always happy about it. It stirred old memories.
