Last FM

This is awesome. I am listening to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, "Red Right Hand". I finally found a really cool website where you can listen to new music and find people with similiar tastes...it looks like a great venue for exploration at least. Oh, I almost forgot to add the link: It's http://www.last.fm/music/Radiohead/_/All+I+Need. Well, this will take you to Radiohead, but just click from there to home or wherever. I just happen to be listening to this song now. But the site is last.fm.

I found Meret Becker and am going through some totally obscure stuff now. I do adore Meret. I watched her youtube stuff. There's one where she just takes a drag and that's it, and it's gorgeous. Then there's one of her, with a frickin' hula hoop and she actually knows how to use it. She twirls it on her foot and then rolls it across her back, from arm to arm and then does this little pose. Love it. I guess I like avant-garde as well as post punk. New discoveries.

Okay, don't like Radiohead so much. Love "Naphthalene" by A Toys Orchestra. It almost brought tears to my eyes at the end. Like what I hear from this band. Kinda like Portishead "Glory Box".

Ooohhh...okay, something I really like, is Sophe Lux, "String Theory" (Waking the Mystics). Even more, I like Clare Fader & The Vaudevil, Seventh and Trade (punk cabaret?)...jazz-ish?

Hahaha! I love this song! "The Wine" by Clare Fader. It's so funny, and good. By far, this is my favorite song of the day. Other than Meret. This is a great song.

I am peeved. I cannot find the lyrics to the song "Naphthalene" ANYWHERE online. It's supposed to be on one of the CDs but maybe it's a hidden track bc there are no lyrics on google at all!

I do like Nick Cave. Interesting lyrics and nice Johnny Cash voice.

I am back to familiar Indigo Girls. I like all the lesbian bands it seems. I don't know why, but there is something about girls with guitars. Maybe more daring somehow. Melissa Etheridge, Indigo Girls...Right now I'm hearing "Land Of Canaan". Their rhythm is amazing. They use their guitars like drums. I used to work with a guy named "Canaan". He was gay and said I could convert him. Ha! He'd sing this song...Then we went wadding, thigh high, in the waters of the Willamette River in Portald, Oregon, and we both got so dog sick. We had ignored the sign saying do not enter because of pollution. Then we'd go to vintage clothing stores and pick out funky stuff and I remember I got some very cool 40s and 50s dress-suits with the tight tailoring and classic lines.
