For the last 5 days, there have been no dirty diapers. Oliver lets me know when he wants to go to the toilet by looking at me and making a particular noise. Sometimes, I've waited, or finished doing something before I take him to the bathroom. But there is never anything in his diaper and he won't start to try going until he is sitting on the toilet. He is totally toilet trained with regard to #2. I am so shocked that I am wondering if he's been trying to tell me about #1 too, so I'm going to start paying attention to see if he knows when he has to go and is trying to give me a signal. A child specialist I saw recently said he's at least 8 months old in physical, emotional, and cognitive development, very advanced for 6 mo. She recommended I tutor him in Jean Piaget theories--get the books and start his Montessori education. I don't think Oliver is a prodigy, but I think he's pretty smart. He says "mam" for me and I think he's been saying "I love you" for a long time bc although he doesn't use the words, he mimics the intonation I use when I say this, and he mimes with the same number of syllables or whatever. Otherwise, no real talking yet. Likes dancing now (for last 3 weeks) and leaning backwards so he's upside down (last 2 weeks). I got him a ball after he was kicking one, and now he doesn't purposefully kick, but steps on the ball, and rolls it around different directions with his feet. I think he's just experimenting.
