Photos From Engagement Party

We had our engagement party at a Mexican restaurant. Appropriate! I liked it, and had fun although there wasn't as much dancing as I expected. I got down to bust a move to "I Will Survive" in both Spanish AND English versions.

I liked my outfit but I don't think there were any photos of the back, which I love--it's a cross-lacing...like a corset lacing up the back. I saw it and loved it but I was like, "Hmmm...sort of whorish?" and we both decided no, that's just the style. It's beautiful that skirt and reminds me of Dior for some reason. Pretty much got everything at Bebe.

I like Nordstrom, but I've been buying more things that I like at Bebe, and I found out later that a lot of Latinas like this store. Count me in. Not on everything though. There was some awful glittery purple number the women wanted me to try on and then I tried on this orange-coral blouse with a huge feathery flower on the shoulder and was like, both of us thought the same thing..."No". He and I have similiar taste for things, prefering something stylish but somewhat classic or more subdued. I liked this little black dress that was knee-length and sleeveless and strapless but it had all these silver studs over it. Sort of biker chick. Not appropriate for engagement party.

He wore a tie that sort of matched. I chose between two he liked and ended up choosing C.K.

I got the lowdown on my dancing. I don't know ANY steps to Latin dances, at all, but I try to dance anyway and spin around and out when led to do so. My friend told me that while some "white people" tried to dance, even with the right steps, they couldn't do it, and that while I didn't have the right steps, I had rhythm.

From "Most Rhythmic Typist" to most unlearned but dance-loving White Girl Gone Latina. I really liked some of the songs. My only regret was that I didn't dance more, and that I only had a couple of drinks. I should have had more of that Colombian drink that tastes like anise. It's my new favorite. I like vodka and that Colombian drink. We had salmon with prawns and salad. It was a dinner-dance party.

I met more of his family and friends and they were all really nice people. I will have to post some of the photos from our party. They're on camera now but I don't know if he has the attachment so we can download them or whatever. I'll ask. Oh, and I want to finish my "not taking sides" thing too.

He likes one photo where I'm making a "peace" sign, but my face looks awful and long and doggish and old and my bra is showing. I wish we had a different "peace" sign photo.

I wore my hair up. I twisted small pieces after I curled it, and then pinned it on top and to the back of my head. Granny will love these photos of me I know. I know her style and she'll really like the photos.

I sang one song. I didn't think it was in good taste for me, as the engaged, to get up and "entertain", but everyone was, and so I got up and requested the only song I knew in English from the menu. I know it in Spanish though, and would have done okay singing it in Spanish: "Whenever, Wherever" or, in Spanish, "Suerte". Shakira.
