Random Book Reading For Camilla (duchess of cornwall)

Well, I guess Diana might giggle at this one. I had no ill will at all, in doing this, and thought I could pick out a few books, with a prayer first and then Camilla in mind, and I was hoping it might be funny and amusing for her and others. I am not so sure. I decided to just grab 10 books and limit it to that bc I don't want to put away more than that.

Not in any particular order:

1. Killing Spree by Kevin O'Brien. p. 149.
I'm just in shock. I'm trying to figure out what happened. you've been friends with Jennifer for a long time, haven't you?" A sad look passed across April's face. "Eight years now. I'm practically her best friend." Gillian pulled the advance reader's copy of "Burning Old Bridesmaids' Dresses" out of her purse and showed it to April. "I figured as much. I saw what she said about you here in the acknowledgments." Gillian sighed. "you sure you don't want a cigarette? I could use one."

2. Jingo by Terry Pratchett. pg.129.
"People have been killed!"
""Who?"
"I...there were...everyone knows they've been killing people!" The man's mental footsteps found safer ground. "Who do they think they are, coming over--"
"That's enough," said Vimes. He stood back and raised his voice.

3. Death Song by Michael McGarrity. pg. 260.
"Don Mielke told me on the phone this might be a case of justifiable homicide. Is that correct?"
"It's likely." Kerney turned to the built-in desk and pick up a palm-size tape recorder and several microcassette tapes.

4. Laura Corn's 101 Nights of Ggggrrrreat Romance.
excerpt 62, "Romancing in the Remote" (for his eyes only).

5. The Five Love Languages by Chapman. pg. 132.
"Meeting my wife's need for love is a choice I make each day. If I know her primary love language and choose to speak it, her deepest emotional need will be met and she will feel secure in my love."

6. Dora & Diego "Let's Cook" by Wiley.
pg. 92, "Mision Cumplida Mash" (with yukon gold potatoes, carrots, and milk, butter, s&p)

7. Eyewitness Books: Presidents by DK publishing. pg. 46
Dwight D. Eisenhower.

8. Greatest Irish Americans of the 20th Century by Harty. pg. 114.
"When Irish eyes are smiling..." (bing crosby--crooner). Gilbert Seldes, the famous art critic, once pointed out, "There was a time, not so long ago, when it was truthfully said that no hour of the day or night, year after year, passed without the voice of Bing Crosby being heard somewhere on this earth."

9. The Ultimate Guide to U.S. Army Combat Skills, Tactics, and Techniques by Jay McCullough.
pg. 473, Figure 3-6: Kneeling throwing position.
(d) Drop to the prone position or behind available cover to reduce exposure to fragmentation and direct enemy fire."
(3) Alternate prone. The alternate prone position (Figure 3-7) reduces both disttance and accuracy. It is used only when an individual is pinned down by hostile fire and is unable to rise to engage his target. Use the following procedures when throwing from this position:"

(I have found I only grabbed 9, so I need 1 more) hang on

10. Power Grab: How the National Education Association is Betraying Our Children by Gregory Moo. pg. 137,
"NEA bosses may see school district budgets as a wonderfully accessible and delicious smorgasbord from which to take whatever they can through compulsory collective bargaining, grievances, binding arbitration, power politics, and intimidation."
********************
well! and that was it. I am not sure what to think. The only time I laughed, personally, was at the kneeling-prone position. Or kneeling throwing.

I guess it sounds like a lot of references to outdoor hunting and things, in sum. That's the most I could make of it. Maybe it would mean more to the person. I looked up Eisenhower out of curiosity bc I don't know hardly anything about him.

Anyway, I like Camilla and hope nothing was offensive at all. Just good fun. I thought the singing cat organ was hilarious, singing "over the rainbow". It could have only been funnier if they had been singing leonard cohen's "hallelujah". hahaha. (eyes bug out)

;) wink
