First song I thought about this morning was the desperado song by that little boy but then "make new friends" came to mind and I got this:

One with a kid in a Superman cape: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l_Ud0EJhtU&feature=related

and then puppets and on this one I found something about unicorn gone mad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx_ZyNx_QRw&feature=related
I guess I'll hear a few unicorn songs. There's something called "Charlies Unicorn" or "Charley the Unicorn".
Here are The Irish Rovers singing "The Unicorn":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EPsuOEH1fY
Here's a clip from Charlie The Unicorn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5im0Ssyyus&feature=related
Oh, I just listened to the lyrics and it's sad! It's a mean song for unicorns! Then I found one about the "last unicorn" but I don't really like this version. It's not Loreena and it's sung too mushy. Maybe it is loreena but I don't like the arrangment--too much of the gloss and elevator music background blasted.
I like this other version better, with just a voice and a guitar:

It's such a dramatic song I think it becomes camp and satire very easily...I don't know. How does one infuse feeling about something no one sees? She has a very pretty voice and yet I want to hear something more with "I'm alive, I'm alive" I don't feel it's from the heart, that part.
I don't like the quality of this voice as much but when she sings this, I feel it more. As soon as she got to the part about the lions, I could tell she had some feeling into this. She also gets closer to the mark with her "I'm alive" because it's a big deal, to be alive as the last unicorn, if you're singing about it, should sing it this way. As if you are that very unicorn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-DqWb0tEbU. This woman gets the closest, I think, to the right feeling.
Not to many men sing this but I wonder if unicorns are supposed to be male or female or either? Here's Boris: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTOitV8ed6Q&feature=related. Boris is Russian. Lots of international covers so far. I had never heard of any unicorn songs before today and then decided to look them up.
I really like the version by the Holland woman because I feel the emotion by the end and it doesn't sound camp and is strong but also plaintive.
Nice tribute to beer with this German version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqgsa9z7STg&feature=related
German opera singer. I still like the Holland woman best. He gets the "I'm alive" part well enough though. The rest I don't know if he's feeling--feels more like technique than emotion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqgsa9z7STg&feature=related
This one by Declan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBfoGpR-QB8&feature=related--
I don't like this song at all, except when the woman from Holland sings it. Otherwise, I don't care for it.
That's all I'm looking up now, of unicorns. I think the Holland woman got it right though--out of all the few I listened to. She's not even accomplished on the piano but she has the best interpretation of the lyrics, in my opinion.
Something for me to think about instead of the other things but back to work now.
I think I like the delicate texture and the enunciation of the UK woman though. Her voice is prettier, but she doesn't seem to be thinking about what she's singing as much as the other woman does, who tells more of a story with her nuance of lyrics. What do you think Simon? I bet Simon would hate, HATE this song. I can't imagine anyone singing it on American Idol either. It would be like singing about trolls or elves or fairies.
Oh here's an idea...someone sings the cover after this cartoon intro first:

The original actually looks like it has a nicely illustrated cartoon to go with it. Not bad.
I am looking up some things while listening to music and sorting some stuff out. I have a place tomorrow I think but looking at a couple of other places too later today.
I need a different song in my mind now. I don't want to be humming a unicorn song as I walk the streets of belfast, er...london..., er, philadelphia--oh wait, Wenatchee.
"Thunder" by AC/DC. Get it on came to mind. I need to hear some thrasher music after hearing the last YOO-nee-korn.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5kr2OBhh4c unbelievable by EMF came to mind.
This morning I woke up and heard "Vision of Love" which took me back, to being in M.L. and then I heard this other guy my best friend loved.
Last night, heard a bunch of stuff and changed the channel whenever it was a sad or negative song and only listened to positive songs and then turned it off at, yeah well, 2 a.m. with "Uptown Girl". I looked at the time and figured it was time to try to get some sleep.
"zoo" came to mind. All I can find is R. Kelly and lil Wayne. The first thing I clicked on, I had to click RIGHT back out of--it was of animals in the zoo, doing their thing. I am all for animals but this is a little too "Sex with my PETA coworker" or circus tamer or, jungle-ish. I seriously, seriously, hope no one is ever doing anything with this as mood music. then to "If I Were A Boy" by Beyonce. Oh, this is a version I haven't heard before with a male duo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYd74_2pKAI&feature=related. He really, does an EXCELLENT job when he gets to "but you're not a boy" but seriously, I've never heard of having to go to clubs and flirt solo with other women as a male right and necessity. But I like his voice. What is the point of going to strip clubs and things unless you are with someone who doesn't care at all? it just ends up being a temptation for other things, flings and affairs and if you don't hide it, then no big deal...but there is no need for dishonesty. In general, as a rule of thumb.
